The natural food sector as a whole has been gaining market share. Organic food made up 5.3% of total US food sales in 2016—the highest rate ever—according to the Organic Trade Association’s most recent study. And per research firm Spins, US sales of natural and organic products in conventional retailers are growing faster than in natural food stores: 8.1% vs. 7.4% year over year in 2017.
